Mr. & Mrs. Meherg

Where to begin? I looked forward to Ben and Mikela’s wedding day for months and months.  I grew up with Ben my entire life. I kissed him in the sandbox at his mom’s daycare and several years later tackled in during a friendly game of touch football and made him cry. I cheered with Mikela and later on shared a couple of home economics classes. Sharing so many memories with a bride and groom makes shooting their wedding so special. When it finally came time I was so excited. Shooting a wedding full of people you grew up with is always a treat. It’s like you’re getting too see old friends, chat and just happen to take thousands of pictures. Mikela and her mom gushed about all the fine details from lighting, to gorgeous flowers, to the grand finale. The Lord gave us beautiful weather with a slight breeze. Mikela was so stunning. Ben was excited and ready to see his girl. Their first look was so sweet. The moms looked on from a far with tears in their eyes and I knew it was going to be a sweet sweet day. I am so excited to share these with y’all. Congrats Mr. & Mrs. Meherg! Love you guys!

Love that Mikela turned one of her favorite engagement pictures into her iPhone cover!

What’s with the barbie? Mikela’s flower girl, Chloe Beth, brought her favorite 2 barbies to the salon and proceeded to tell Mikela and her Matron of Honor, Felicia, that they were her two barbies. Needless to say, this was Mikela the barbie showing of her engagement ring!

He was so excited!

So so sweet. I may or may not have teared up.

Gorgeous ladies!

One word. Trouble. hah

Pretty ladies.

There were several little sentimental details throughout the wedding day. One of the many was Mikela’s bouquet. The broach on the front was her Aunt Michelle’s. She passed away not too long ago. I know she was looking down from heaven with a smile on her face that day.

Gorgeous flowers by Jenny Busby. The details made this wedding!

Sweet ride huh? Mikela’s stepdad’s antique firetruck was their get away ride! So awesome.

Ben’s cake was an exact replica of his boat. Cake by Sunshine Cakes.

Ben & Mikela’s grandparents played a big role through the day, one of which was Mikela’s paternal grandmother, Martha Mitchell. She made her cake. Gorgeous!

These pink hydrangeas were so important. The mother of the bride planted these for her sister. Michelle always wanted pink ones, but Melissa knew that getting them to bloom pink would be near impossible. Michelle passed away and a little time passed. Melissa watered her flowers like every other day. She rounded the corner and there they were. Beautifully bloomed and pink. Just what Michelle wanted.

After a delay due to sickness, the wedding was under way right at sunset!

The reception. Oh how I gushed over the reception. Everything from the lighting, the food, the cake, down to the ice buckets. The cloudy blue skies made for the perfect mood.

After saying I do, her guests began to eat, while the bride received her IV. Tell me she’s not a trooper!!

With the IV still sticking out from her arm, she joined her hubby on the dance floor for their first dance. Can you just feel the emotion?

And then they danced.

Bouquet tosses are always fun, but when Valerie is involved you know you’re about to get a good shot! Here’s proof.

One of my favorite parts of the night was the wish lanterns! They gave their guests blank lanterns and sharpie markers. Their jobs were to write a wish to Ben and Mikela then light their lantern and let them float into the night sky. Just watching everyone with excitement and huge smiles as they let their lanterns go gave me chills.

To top off an incredible day, they had an amazing fireworks show and rode off into the night shortly there after.

The view from the wedding site was so peaceful. Perfecting ending. So blessed to have been a part of their day!
